I redesigned the print version of the World Abortion Laws Map and supplemental materials at the Center for Reproductive Rights. The previous design was from 2011. I updated the map with a new, less Eurocentric map projection; created new category colors corresponding to the category rating out of 100 (total ban = 0, abortion upon request = 100); and suggested more logical symbols for the legal indicators and gestational limits and ordered them in a consistent way across countries for ease of comparison. My requests for increasingly granular data for infographics also led the Global Program to highlight global progress on abortion over the past 25 years in a new fact sheet, important information the Center had never previously visualized.
I also worked with the wonderful ThinkShout on the digital version of the map, providing design feedback and designing and formatting the content below the map.
